ejG IS AN INTERDISCIPLINARY MEDIA ARTIST, INFORMED BY AN impoverished UPBRINGING IN THE AMERICAN SOUTH

by enduring representations of abuse: negligence and poverty, ejg’s practice is founded on a resourcefulness—often unspoken within what is considered a typical arts education.

born to a mexican father and caucasian mother, Garcia’s model of identity is fractured resulting in a body of work, more-so about spirituality.

generational & childhood traumas were taught to be processed by: the Bible.
religious dissonance is the basis of Garcia’s practice, since she wrestles what It might mean to have a departure from a christian reliance.

garcia, thus engages in themes of patterns and cycles played out in: domesticism, decay, mysticism, and the shadow archetype by proxy of flora & fauna. the use of Ephemera (organic materials: flowers, leaves, bark, twigs, excrement and degradable cloth ) is reflective of Garcia’s intentions to have a discourse on what it means to sit with painful memories that instigate feelings of degradation.
